Using Microsoft PowerPoint

This assignment will teach basic presentation design skills using Microsoft PowerPoint. You will create a basic presentation. Although your PowerPoint software guide is written with PowerPoint 2000 in mind, you may use PowerPoint 97 if you wish.

This assignment will consist of ONE printed page.

Step 1

Please read PP 1.4 PP 1.7 in your PowerPoint book so that you will have a basic understanding of PowerPoint and you will be familiar with its functions and features.

Step 2

Look at "In The Lab", Projects 1 and 2 on pages PP 1.72 to PP 1.75 as a guide for this assignment, but instead of using the data provided in the project, use the outline below as a guide for your presentation's content.

How to get started:

Start PowerPoint. Under the File menu, select New From that popup menu, click on the "Presentation Designs" tab and select the 'high voltage' icon. When the 'New Slide' window opens, select the second sample on the top row (called 'Bulleted List') and click the OK button. When the blank presentation slide appears, begin entering the data below for each slide by first clicking on the title text, where you will enter the title for your first slide. Next, click on the main text to begin entering text for the main portion of your first slide. To add a new slide, press CTRL+M, or select 'New Slide' from the 'Insert' menu. You will have a total of five slides. Be sure to indent as outlined below.

**NOTE: Underlined text should be entered EXACTLY as you see it printed here. Non-underlined text should be replaced with the relevant information that is specific to you.

NOTE: In the interest of saving paper, print a 'handout' sheet (all slides printed on one sheet) instead of printing five separate sheets.

In the Print Properties box (From the File menu, select Print), from the 'Print What' drop-down menu, select 'Handouts (6 slides per page)'.

For further instructions on printing within Microsoft PowerPoint, see your PowerPoint software guide.

You DO NOT need to print in color. To save color (and black ink), check the Pure Black and White box on the Print Properties pop up window prior to printing.

Important Note

Before turning this assignment in, you must write your full name, student ID number and Assignment number somewhere on the printed out presentation handout sheet. If I do not have your name or the assignment number YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE FULL CREDIT.
